How to do facial exfoliation with Baiden Mitten

Facial Exfoliation with Baiden Mitten

It is pretty obvious how to use Baiden Mitten on your body, isn’t it?

You simply soak in the bath or under a shower and then scrub. However, the question is – “How do you soak your face?”  – I mean, you are supposed to soak for about 20-30 minutes. Who can hold their breath THAT long?

The good news is – you don’t have to.

Soaking your face under shower is really simple, all you have to do is get the water to run over your face for a while. In the bath, you can either splash some water over your face every now and again, or drape a towel dipped in hot water over your face to allow the steam to work on it for a 20 minutes or so. Just make sure that you dip the towel in the hot water every now and again to keep the steam coming. Cold water will not do much for it.

Once you have soaked enough and you are ready to start scrubbing, take the towel off, stand up in the bath and start scrubbing your body. I leave the face for last for couple of reasons:

  • When I scrub the body first, by the time I get to my face, I am the master of my stroke. I can feel exactly how hard to press to get the results without overdoing it. It is better to make mistakes on your legs than on your face I think
  • Scrubbing with Baiden Mitten is quite a workout. If you start with your lower body and then move up, it is likely that you will be huffing and puffing a bit by the time you get to the top of your body. Your face will be red and flushed from the effort and you are also likely to be slightly sweating. There is nothing better than sweat to loosen all that dead skin layer on the face andfacial exfoliation make it easier to exfoliate.

The skin on your face is very different than on the rest of your body. When you exfoliate your body, you will see big rolls of dead skin forming on the surface, but on your face they are tiny and most of them get trapped in the mitten. They will wash out when you rinse out the mitten and if you rinse your mitten in the bowl, the water will have “muddy” look. That is all the grime and dead skin cells from your face.

You might not be able to see those little rolls of dead skin, but you might very well be able to feel them under the tips of your fingers if you run your hand over the area you just exfoliated.

Additionally, the type of stroke that you use over your body is different to the stroke you use on your face:

  • on you body, you use slow, long strokes with fair amount of pressure (on some body parts I even put one hand over the other to increase the pressure but
  • on your face you use short, light strokes, but more of them. Try to do your face (and body for that matter) in parts. When you finish one part, then move onto another one, jumping from one place to another will not give you desired effects. The mitten works best when the area gets warm from rubbing it. Increased blood circulation will help the skin to release the toxins and debris, leaving your face super fresh.
